He ran away from his village at the age 13 due to his father’s scoldings.[10] He first worked in an oil mart, then in a private wine shop as a waiter and then landed up in drama where he started developing his skills. His first film was Ithikkara Pakki (1980).[11] He slowly entered the Tamil film industry in small characters and finally landed in a good role in the film Malayoor Mambattiyan. He has acted in many popular films with several of the leading actors and comedians in the south Indian cine industry. He usually appears in films with Goundamani in a slapstick double act. Together they have formed a comic pair in many Tamil films and was known as the Laurel and hardy of Tamil Cinema.[12] Recently, Senthil has started acting in Tamil tele-serials.

Manivannan (31 July 1953 – 15 June 2013), popularly known mononymously as Manivannan, was an Indian film actor and director. In a career spanning three decades, Manivannan went from being a story and dialogue writer for veteran director Bharathiraja from 1980–82 to a successful director who thrived in experimenting with different genres, before becoming an actor.[3] With over 400 films to his name, Manivannan was one of the most experienced actors in the field and has directed exact 50 films.[4] Manivannan was mainly a supporting actor in films and often played the comedian or the villain’s role.[3]

During his lifetime, he supported various political parties, including the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. He later became affiliated with the Naam Tamilar Katchi and had long supported its ideology of Sri Lankan Tamil nationalism.

Shakeela is an Indian film actress, and glamour model known for her works in softcore movies, B-movies, and mainstream cinema.[2] She has mostly acted Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada language films. Shakeela debuted in the Tamil soft porn movie Playgirls at the age of 20 as a supporting actress.[3][4]

She acted in many B grade movies. Her big hit film was Kinnarathumbikal in Malayalam, which brought her under limelight and resulted in unheard craze for her from youngsters to the old. She did few controversial topless scenes in her initial movies, but once she got noticed after Kinnarathumbikal.[3][4] Her B-Grade films were dubbed and released in almost all Indian languages. Her films were dubbed even into foreign languages like Nepalese, Chinese, Sinhala etc. After she acted in several movies, the soft-porn movie industry in India was colloquially called as «Razni films».[5]

Shakeela has started appearing in comedy oriented family character roles in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada since 2003. She wrote her autobiography which told about her family,and her background, acqintances with notable film personalities, politicians and childhood friends.[6][7]

In January 2018, she announced her 250th film as an actor, Seelavathi, would begin production.[8]
