HEY DDR’s (Dedicated Description Readers)!
So, I’m as I’m sitting here typing, my clothes are in the drier and they need to hurry up because I gotta pack! In two hours, Nate and I are flying to South Dakota to perform in Celebrate’s Easter Weekend services. Three flights there, three flights back… At least I’ll be super tired! XP
Hey, in case anybody is wondering why we’re writing parody style songs instead of pure, unadulterated originals, I have a reason, but it’s a bit hard to explain… Still, I’ll try.
Bassikly (ha) we’re having a hard time figuring out what kind of songs to write… We both listen to a wide range of music and have recorded and produced almost every genre. IMmortal was mostly electronic pop, but Nate and I kinda wanted to try something a bit different. Problem is, we couldn’t decide WHAT to try, and writing a bunch of songs over a huge range of genres has proven confusing to the majority of my audience…
Anyway, we couldn’t narrow down and agree on one style, so we decided to try this for a while. Writing songs that are SIMILAR to other artists, but not exactly the same. That way we get a chance to try some different things, but also an acceptable excuse for the people who only came for dubstep. A way to «package» our new music, if you will.
It also takes some of the pressure off us, because once you’ve had a few (sorta) successful albums, it can be hard to follow them up without getting stressed out and comparing each new idea to your old stuff. So yeah. That’s the main reason. We were writing these songs anyway, we just decided to tweak them a bit to make them sound more like the artists who inspired them. Make sense? No? I didn’t think so… ^^;
OH! Easter egg! Right, cause it’s almost Easter!!
Here’s something fun! I brought a paraglider to Mississippi with me (surprise surprise) and I’ve been teaching my brother how to fly. (He WILL be a PPG pilot by the time we move to LA, mark my words!) Anyway, he’s getting pretty good at not stalling and dying, so we finally took it to the beach on a windy and had some of the best kiting wind I’ve ever seen!
