Lyrics:
Can you try… an original song
In a Purim Spiel?
How would it make you feel?

Verse 1:
We can always sing the Beatles
And the rabbis will be willin’.
And I know that we can count on
The complete works of Bob Dylan.

We can film it on and iPhone
And do half the tune in Yiddish.
But if we don’t set the words to Gangnam Style,
Will they gossip at the kiddish?

Chorus:
Can you try…an original song
In a Purim Spiel
Tell me how would it make you feel?
And can you write…brand new music to go
In a Purim video?
Sadly, no one seems to know.

Verse 2
We can parody an opera
in the style of Mario Lanza.
But can an unknown song go viral?
There’s no relevant responsa.
We could all dress up like Vashti
and play our graggers right till dawn.
Just as long as Esther’s singing to
Some sweet Celine Dion.

Chorus:
Can you try…an original song
In a Purim Spiel
Tell me how would it make you feel?
And can you write…brand new music to go
In a Purim video?
Sadly, no one seems to know…. at all!

Now we’ve tried…an original song
In our Purim Spiel
Tell us how did it make you feel?
Oh, here’s the end…of our brand new song
Would you say it was strong?
Or did seem kind of wrong?
Or did it go on too long……….?
Our original Purim song.
