#5 Big Ol’ Shark
OK let’s kick it off with number 5. Probably one of the biggest fears of anyone while fishing in the open ocean, or any area of ocean for that matter, is capturing one of these guys. . . a big ol, 15 foot shark! So a commercial fishing boot was casting giant nets out in the ocean, ya know, just doing there job. Something they’ve probably done hundreds, if not thousands of times. But this time, for this fisherman, was a little different. While emptying one of the many nets for the day, he discovered this huge, pink shark, right in the middle of a catch! The 15 foot long shark was assumed to have died itself pink, from the many bloody carcasses it caused over it’s life. Creepy.
#4 Spearfish Head
OK let’s move on to number 4. We got another pair of guys out fishing in the open ocean, and during the video you can hear the one holding the camera say ‘you hooked a shark, did ya?’, and while what was at the end of that fishing line was certainly scary, it wasn’t a shark. It was a shortbill spearfish, however that’s still only half the story – as it was actually just the head of the fish! Can you imagine thinking you just caught tonight’s dinner just to come to the realization that what you actually caught was another animal’s dinner from last night!? This catch gives a new meaning to ‘keep your head up’. OK, that was bad. Moving on.
#3 Bats
OK let’s actually move on to something you probably wouldn’t expect to end up on a fishing line, because it doesn’t even live in the water. We’re talking about bats. Well, it might not be as hard as you’d think. Many fishing areas, especially in rivers and lakes and smaller bodies of water, are surrounding by all types of trees, bushes and other natural foliage. When fisherman cock back their rod and get ready to cast their line, sometimes the hook could end up in those trees. And if their paying attention they could end up with one of these furry guys at the end of their line! Talk about a bad day for the bet, imagine just sitting somewhere minding your business and then you end up being hooked for no reason!
#2 Alligator
OK let’s move on. We’ve seen scary sharks, creepy fish heads and furry bats. . . what else is there? Oh yeah, imagine pulling a live alligator up out of the water. Well that’s what happened to this guy. While he’s out fishing with some friends on a paddle boat in Louisiana he attempts to pull up his fishing line from the murky water. You can see him struggle, and then the line is moving in opposite directions, probably leading the man to think that he had a really big catch on the line. And in some respects, he did. It just wasn’t a fish. Watch him tug on the line and look at the snout of an alligator! Sheesh, after I saw something like that I’d do exactly what this guy did – get out of that area as soon as I could.
#1 Skull
Alright this last story, as usual, is pretty creepy. Imagine losing a friend of yours to a boating accident, and then later going fishing yourself and hooking a piece of your deceased friend’s skull? Well, that’s exactly what happened here. Brian Allison died in strong storm on the water, and while the boat was located the bodies were never recovered. Barry Hunter, Allison’s friend, actually reeled in a piece of Allison’s skull several years later. And that’s today’s video!
