Fabiano Caruana vs Magnus Carlsen | 2018 World Chess Championship | Game 3

World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway defends his title against challenger Fabiano Caruan of the United States in Game 2 of the 2018 World Chess Championship match that is being held in London. It’s a best of 12 games where the first player to earn 6.5 points earns the lion’s share of a $1.14 million prize pool, and the title of «World Chess Champion». Both players entered game 3 with 1 point each. We revisit a Sicilian Defense, Rossolimo variation in this game where play deviates with white’s 6th move. Unlike game 1, Caruana’s h-pawn stayed home for awhile, and files were cracked open on the queenside. Once a minor piece specific endgame arose, earning the full point would become difficult. Even so, Carlsen has demonstrated time and time again how one can try to extract blood from a stone.
